THE GIFT OF SOON-TO-BE ANGELS

I have a gift for you!
It is the same gift
unfolding for me
As my rebellion turns to acceptance
and my pain distills
all suffering into purity.

As my body’s chaff
separates from my soul’s grain,
a gold-hued hand
reaches down
And I find I have wings.

And you, dear loved one
You who have steered my flight
through stormy skies, until
the light shined through
You, dear loved one
now have wings too!

This is the gift of soon-to-be angels
And the gift from you to me
The gift of death,
My gift to you …
Wings of eternity!
